This also applies to foreign companies that sell goods to German end customers or retailers. Those who do not comply with the regulations risk high penalties and sales bans.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"407\" data-end=\"459\"><strong data-start=\"410\" data-end=\"457\">1. who is affected by the Packaging Act?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"460\" data-end=\"598\">Every company that <strong data-start=\"483\" data-end=\"538\">places packaged products on the German market<\/strong>must comply with the Packaging Act. 50 kg plastic cost approx. 50-150 \u20ac per year<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"3464\" data-end=\"3512\"><strong data-start=\"3467\" data-end=\"3510\">5 What are the penalties for violations?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3513\" data-end=\"3640\">Companies that do not register or do not obtain a license risk high costs. <strong data-start=\"3604\" data-end=\"3637\">Fines and sales bans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3642\" data-end=\"3905\"><strong data-start=\"3645\" data-end=\"3671\">Penalties according to VerpackG:<\/strong><br data-start=\"3671\" data-end=\"3674\" \/><strong data-start=\"3676\" data-end=\"3703\">-Up to 200,000 \u20ac fine<\/strong> in the absence of registration or licensing.<br data-start=\"3750\" data-end=\"3753\" \/><strong data-start=\"3755\" data-end=\"3788\">-Sales ban in Germany<\/strong> (Amazon &amp; eBay block unregistered traders).<br data-start=\"3840\" data-end=\"3843\" \/><strong data-start=\"3845\" data-end=\"3902\">-Warning letters from competitors &amp; environmental organizations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3907\" data-end=\"4041\"><strong data-start=\"3910\" data-end=\"3919\">Tip:<\/strong> Marketplaces like <strong data-start=\"3936\" data-end=\"3991\">Amazon &amp; eBay demand the LUCID number from retailers<\/strong>to ensure that they are registered.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"4048\" data-end=\"4108\"><strong data-start=\"4051\" data-end=\"4108\">6. special cases: Import, dropshipping &amp; EU companies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4109\" data-end=\"4167\">There are different rules depending on the business model:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4109\" data-end=\"4167\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-12178 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/bosporus24.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Bildschirmfoto-2025-03-06-um-12.18.48-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1180\" height=\"624\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4109\" data-end=\"4167\"><strong data-start=\"4678\" data-end=\"4687\">Tip:<\/strong> If you are a <strong data-start=\"4701\" data-end=\"4768\">foreign dealer not directly based in Germany<\/strong>you can use a <strong data-start=\"4786\" data-end=\"4806\">Authorized representative<\/strong> who will take over your packaging duties.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"4867\" data-end=\"4909\"><strong data-start=\"4870\" data-end=\"4909\">7. new regulations since 2023 &amp; 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4910\" data-end=\"4934\"><strong data-start=\"4913\" data-end=\"4932\">Since July 2022:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"4935\" data-end=\"5127\">\n<li data-start=\"4935\" data-end=\"5031\"><strong data-start=\"4937\" data-end=\"4987\">Every retailer must register with LUCID<\/strong>even if he only sells small quantities.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"5032\" data-end=\"5127\"><strong data-start=\"5034\" data-end=\"5124\">Online marketplaces (e.g. Amazon, eBay, Otto) may only allow registered retailers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"5129\" data-end=\"5155\"><strong data-start=\"5132\" data-end=\"5153\">Since January 2023:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"5156\" data-end=\"5262\">\n<li data-start=\"5156\" data-end=\"5262\"><strong data-start=\"5158\" data-end=\"5187\">Extended returnable packaging obligation<\/strong>Restaurants, caf\u00e9s &amp;
