If you want to work independently in Germany, you often hear about Trade office<\/strong> and Tax office<\/strong>. Both authorities are important - but they have different tasks<\/strong>. Here we simply explain, who does what<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Trade office - your first step<\/strong><\/h3>\n

What does the trade office do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Trade office<\/strong> is the authority with which you officially register your business. register<\/strong>.
This means: You tell the state that you are now self-employed (e.g. with an online store, caf\u00e9, as a craftsman* or in trade).<\/p>\n

You need the trade office if:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    You are founding a company (not as a freelancer)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    You are opening a business or want to work independently<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    You have an official Trade license<\/strong> need<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What do you get from the trade office?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • One Business registration<\/strong> (also: trade license)<\/li>\n
    • The information is automatically forwarded to other offices (e.g. the tax office and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Tax office - responsible for taxes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      What does the tax office do?
      \n<\/strong>The Tax office<\/strong> takes care of your Taxes<\/strong>. As soon as you have registered your business with the trade office, you will receive Mail from the tax office<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      You have to do this at the tax office:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Questionnaire for tax registration<\/strong> fill out (possible online)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Your Tax number<\/strong> apply (you need this for invoices)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Indicate whether you Value added tax<\/strong> want to pay or the Small business regulation<\/strong> uses<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Later: Your Tax returns<\/strong> deliver<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Important:<\/strong> Without a tax number you may no invoices<\/strong> write!<\/p>\n
