How do I obtain an EORI number for trade with Germany?
The EORI number (Economic Operators' Registration and Identification Number) is a Central identification numberthat companies and sole traders need in order to Customs transactions within the EU. It is mandatory for Imports and exports to and from Germany.

- Companies and the self-employedthat regularly import goods to Germany or export goods from Germany.
- Foreign companiesthat trade with Germany and import goods into the EU.
- Logistics companies and freight forwardersthat handle customs transactions for third parties.
- Private individuals usually require no EORI numberunless they import or export commercial goods.
2 How do I apply for an EORI number?
The application is made online or by e-mail at the Directorate General of Customs Germany.
a) Online application via the customs portal
Step-by-step instructions:

Registration in the customs portal:
- Go to the German customs portal: www.zoll.de
- Register in the Citizen and business customer portal.
- Create a user account.

Apply for an EORI number:
- Select the application in the portal "Apply for an EORI number" from.
- Fill out the online form and upload documents if necessary (e.g. extract from the commercial register).

Confirmation and assignment of the EORI number:
- After checking, you will receive your EORI number by e-mail or post.
- Processing time: approx. 1-2 weeks.
b) Application by e-mail or post
If you do not wish to use the online portal, you can also submit the application by e-mail or post submit.
