What we stand for and what drives us.
Pfeifer & Langen stands and lives for sugar. With 2,521 employees and a turnover of around 1.33 billion euros, we are one of the leading sugar manufacturers in Europe. We produced almost two million tons of sugar and agricultural products in 2022 - in state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly plants and processes. Sustainable and in harmony with nature.

Sugar enriches our lives in many ways. It is an important source of energy, sweetens our food and drinks and preserves food. Our motivation is to keep developing new natural sugars and specialties alongside classic sugar. In doing so, we are guided by the idea of manufacturing: making good things better and better - in high quality, tailor-made and in partnership with and for our customers. We have developed several hundred product specifications for the food industry alone. Precisely tailored to the requirements and applications of our customers. And we do this anew every day.
For example, at our Innovation Center in Elsdorf. Here we are researching new natural sugars from beet. For example, we have developed cellobiose. Today, we are the first company that can produce cellobiose from beet sugar on a ton scale. Cellobiose is very similar to lactose and can even replace it - which makes it particularly attractive for the food industry, among others.

As a traditional family business and leading European sugar manufacturer, the trust of the public, our customers and our employees is important to us. We act accordingly every day and are aware of our responsibility as a food-producing company. Two years ago, a comprehensive compliance program was initiated for the entire Pfeifer & Langen Group. As part of this program, a code of conduct was defined and anchored in the company. The conduct of each individual employee is guided by the law as well as ethical principles set by Pfeifer & Langen itself, such as transparency and responsibility. Values that shape the way we work together.
