It was the exciting developments in applications for the plastic polyethylene (PE) at the nearby BASF that led Karl Eisemann to set up the first machines for making bags from film on the premises of his blacksmith and plumber's workshop in Ludwigshafen-Ruchheim. In 1959, he founded the company RHEIN-PLAST for this purpose. The company was managed and owned by the Eisemann family until 2022 and was then sold to the RINGMETALL SE group of companies - a listed Munich-based group of companies - as part of restructuring measures and the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Reorganized, together with Nittel GmbH, Tesseraux GmbH, Liner Factory GmbH & Co. KG and the US company Protective Lining Inc. to form the business segment of INDUSTRIAL PACKAGING LINER. This strengthens the Group's market position in the field of industrial specialty packaging. In Bad Dürkheim, recyclable bags and sacks made of PE mono films are produced in the company's own blown film extrusion, printing and converting facilities.
