Since 2009, the company proTon event- & medientechnik Gmbh has been developing strip lighting and accessories for linear LED lighting under its own brand "SMARTLED". The company, based in Graz, was founded in 2005 by engineer Reinhardt Altenburger. Originally the Austrian-wide point of contact when it comes to sound and media technology, the company began designing and developing its own range of LED products in 2009. The actual idea was to use and install this material in their own projects.

The technical orientation of the development team and the reliability of the LED products led to the first customer projects being developed and implemented, special designs being developed and customized for the respective application.

With over 1200 products, SMARTLED now serves several hundred satisfied customers from Europe to the USA and India. The portfolio ranges from indoor and outdoor LED strips according to all possible ideas to the ideal accessories and, if necessary, a custom-made product according to requirements.
